Radiohead Remix

Always thought it would be awesome to work with Thom Yorke's voice. Radiohead offered the track NUDE (from "In Rainbows") for everybody to remix. Listen to OFFCMD's remix from the widget to the right ~~and vote (hit the + sign)~~. (Voting is now closed)
I think the art of remixing has a lot of faces. I usually like remixes that respect the original track in its essence and carry on the theme to a new level (tempo, style, mood, etc..) and I really don't get remixes that take just a bit of the original to create a new, totally unrelated track that just bears the name of the original, is just not fun, or is simply just not a remix anymore.

Offending Material is an online radio show I used to do at radiolislanegra.com. Every Tuesday I created a new flyer to announce the show, now looking back I feel creating the flyers was one of the best parts of doing the show... Just minutes before going live I did this exercise of coming up with a representation of the word "offensive" without being too graphic, in a more subliminal way. Here is the full collection.

More free releases online. Offending Command appears on Pueblo Nuevo's first year anniversary compilation. A 60 track compilation available on the chilean net label for download as mp3.
The multi sided album is inclined towards minimal, IDM, and electroacustic realms, but there are a few rarities, like "Puro Chile" which is a housey, nintendo-like free version of Chile National Anthem.

I've had some tunes for too long sititng on my hard drive, and they are not going anywhere unless I share them, so this is the first in a series of free download mp3's I will be publishing here.
This time is "I can't go 4 that (offcmd reenactment)", a free version of, based on samples of Hall & Oates classic pop tune: "I can't go for that (no can do)".
A couple of years ago, my version got broadcasted in Radio Concierto (Chile) and since then I have been recieving emails from people I don't even know, asking for this track... well is time to share

I am having a lot of fun with the programming and I have remembered how great is the "art of playlisting" (as Mixtapes used to be). Some people has been asking me about the track names and artists I play, and I think is important to share this information. This is the way I find new music myself, reading tracknames on the streams and researching them on the web, most of the times you get a preview, or a myspace link (oh no!). One of the sites I frecuently search for info on music is Discogs.com, great resource.
Here I have collected the track names and relevant info of every track I have played so far at the show, I think its important to share this info with info freaks (as myself).

Every Tuesday at 6pm [EST] tune in at RINFM.com for Offending Command's online radio show. I have been selecting my favorite tunes off the racks for a condensed milk of what I consider to be highly distracting music. So here I am once again avoiding to use labels or "tags" or music industry classifications, or trends, and I have been thinking in a basic idea: hot versus cool music.. Cool being music that is indifferently flat and can perfectly camouflage with ambience, and Hot being music that wants to be listened to actively and can't really work as background musak... this is definitively a Hot music weekly compilation of tracks.

OffCmd Live Performance (debut)

I am very pleased to announce offcmd´s first public live performance. It will actually be a series of them as part of an upcoming video show named: "Otra Pichanga" curated by Camila Marambio at MonkeyTown, an amazing venue in Williamsburg. The show will happen on Dec 2,3 and 9,1o. Each day the show will run at 7:30pm and 10pm. The venue has a bar in the front and a tall cubic room in the back with 4 gigant projections screens. The seats are very limited so make sure to have reservations in advance. I will be playing a live set of music and moving images, and immediately after, a video selection of chilean artists.

The chilean rocker, composer and philosopher, Cristian Torres (aka Nutria) has a new album. "Roquerio" will be soon released under Hueso Records, a new independent label based in Brooklyn and run by a group of chilean-mafia artists. The album is "solido" and is plenty of beautiful inteligent melodies. I just completed a remix for one of the songs named "the beauty mark" that you can download from the link below. Days ago, a friend reminded me of a remix I did years ago about a clasic Radio Jingle that was pretty popular in Chile during the 80's 90's. Around year 2000, Aurora FM (the radio station) changed the jingle, and later dissapeared or changed public, not really sure.. but the jingle was gone. Well, sort of, because here it is again.
After listening to my 1999 remix for it, I decided it was terribly mixed so I spend a day revamping it and did a new mix. Warning... this is POP stuff

Incredible example of interface Real State optimization and visual information organization in such a reduced space. "Bhajis Loops" is pretty much Ableton Live for Palm. I immediately imagined a live performance delivered from a palm... scratch your palm!
The developer is Olivier Gillet, his foundry is called "Chocopoolp" and also produces "Microbe" what it seems to be a moduar synthesizer also for the Palm OS

Autechre LIVE in NYC

Yesterday (May 8th) I experienced the most amazing live concert I have been in years. Autechre live at the Webster Hall in NY.

One of my favorite topics in music is naming and coming up with adjectives in order to verbally describe sounds. So here are the adjectives I would use to describe last night concert.

Autechre live sounded like if Atom Heart meets Aphex Twin for a Tarkovsky Sci-Fi movie soundtrack about gothic mythology in a decontructivist ghost town. But better description is what Flavio Bagioli came up with (SPANISH)
"me imagino como un auto o vehiculo andando con las ruedas cuadradas, pero andando muy bien !!!con ruedas cuadradas y todo. o como gente subiendo y bajando escaleras y saltandose algunos peldaños tambien como insectos una mosca con un ataque de epilepsia"

Obsesive behaviour on Track Composing, keeps me slepless.
I would say this is the first official Offending Command Single, because of its production technique, sound mass, and style. I think of it as a melody driven tune, but most people find it hard to digest.. maybe because of the broken drums and the offbeat voice loops.. if you have a comment click on the title of this post to add a comment.
